Accelerated Radio network, the brainchild of Kevin Nash was on site to capture the sights and sounds of an electric blend of music, partying, and a homecoming of sorts at the 20th annual Gardena Jazz Festival, on Sunday, Aug. 27, at Rowley Park. The performances of Boney James, The Family Stone, Damien Escobar, Ragan Whiteside, Brandee Younger, and the Fernando Pullum Community Arts Band performed from morning until evening to end, and Accelerated Radio got all of the backstage action.

The event, started in 2003 by State Sen. Steven Bradford, who represents Gardena in the state legislature, also attracted the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, and Congresswomen Maxine Waters who were graceful in joining the Accelerated Radio Live broadcast, hosted by two Inglewood High school 9th graders

, Nevaeh Taylor, and Genesis Yaylor, (not related).

The Honorable Mayor of Los Angeles graced the stage, and was a full throated supporter of the Gardena Jazz Festival and its 20 year history.  Mayor Bass’s press secretary and communications lead, Clara Karger was so kind in bringing Mayor Bass over to speak to our youth reporters.  It made their day, and gave a nice jolt of energy to the Accelerated crew.

Yoyo was a surprise guest and used her time to shout out Congresswomen Maxine Waters as a mentor and sage adviser during her almost 40 years in the Hip Hop/Rap game. Congresswoman Waters was so touched by that testimonial that we witnessed them in an embrace backstage after her radio interview.

One of the highlights of the event was the Fernando Pullam Jazz Band, who kicked off the festivities. He stopped by the Accelerated booth to share his thoughts and reflections on todays performance by his young artist.
