UNLOCKING THE TUSKEGEE AIRMEN X-FILES COMPETITION

FALLEN 66 TASK FORCE- May

The Unlocking Tuskegee Airmen X files Competition  (UTAXFC) is a STEAM showcase to enable students to Unlock the untold stories of the Fallen 66 and the Tuskegee Airmen at Large.  This project invokes the sacred rull of all combatants “That No Man Left Behind”.

The competition will provide the teams with exclusive video,  For Love Of Liberty Multimedia, Hollywood’s POV, photos, music, artifacts, and social media and the forensic science to construct a story board for  presentation to a panel on Oct. 7th, USC Silicon Beach.

The teams will deploy STEM curriculum to deconstruct the forensics of the Tuskegee Airmen’s Missing In Action-Killed In Action classification.  Compton Unified School District has been the use case for the design of the project and will extend to cohorts such as the Level Playing Field Institute.

UTAXFC has identified (3) Fallen 66 families that have become charter members of the “Search And Rescue Mission”.  The Airmen that have been declassified and their X files have been opened for DNA certified families to start the process  and goal of repatriation and burial in Arlingtion National Cemetery are:

  1. 2nd Lt. George McCrubmy,
  2. 2nd Lt. Samuel Leftenant
  3. 2nd Lt. Lt James McCullin.

The most compelling aspect of the competition is for the teams to capture the oral history of these mid 90′s World War II heroes. History is never the past, and this project will enable students to interact with living legends before its too late.

GIVING NEW MEANING TO MOBILE DIGITAL MEDIA

Dakar Foundation is in discussion with Hart Beat Digital to build a mobile Digital Media Makers Lab, that has a mobile touring component that advances and showcase the facility on wheels.  The hottest idea on wheels is and Augmented/VR lab on wheels.

Bringing solutions and demonstrations to disenfranchised communities can unbox the What if to the learners of tomorrow, while they sit siloed in pedagogy that is light years behind in competing for the best in STEAM education and professional development.  Collaborating with Silicon Valley and Silicon Beach leaders to challenge the Why (?)

 

Dakar’s targets underserved school districts to put STEAM on wheels and serve Los Angeles County students with a mobile digital production lab that can dispatch backpack-journalism kits; cameras, laptops, and 3-D printers, as well as digital media professionals doubling as mentors.

 

Our newest collaborator Mobile Film Classroom (MFC) has provided Dakar with a case study to analyze the cost-benefit analysis of such a system that we plan on taking to our advisors for the recommendation for partnership and funding.

Kevin Clark, founder of  Dakar Foundation is leading an effort to bring experienced volunteers and branded mobile facilities outfitted with the latest and greatest equipment to STEAM students.  Sample

A proposed mobile facility will not only teach students more about how and why to create technology but that what they create will itself impact their community, and provide an on-ramp for career work development.

“What we’re proposing is STEAM students would experiment with digital creation and storytelling without barriers to transportation. Mobility will provide access to facilities where they can produce and innovate everything from mobile live broadcast production to augmented and virtual reality creation.

Mentorship will undergird the effort and enable students to create what they would ordinarily consume, as well catalyze storytelling ,self-publishing and distribution methods, and sharing of formulas for succeeding outside of the box.

Recent workforce development research estimated that, by the year 2020, there will be a 15 percent increase in jobs where storytelling is needed.  The keys to making the initiative a success will be building a group of committed community mentors who will be trained on best practices on mentoring in a digital age.

There’s only word for the Sony Digital Motion Picture Center, AWESOME.  We experienced the perfect storm of hollywood networking,  experiential workforce development all while traversing a decked out sound stage and set.

The DMPC is a place that can unlock all of the feature sets,  it’s about understanding a particular camera and how it fits into not only your workflow, but also how it stacks up against other cameras in general. 3

That’s why a few years ago Sony came up with the DMPC (Digital Motion Picture Center) in Culver City, CA on the Sony Pictures lot (they’ve also got a similar spot at Pinewood Studios in the UK).

Keith Vidger, gave a great tour and, which included a presentation explaining some of the goals of the space, and how the industry has been rapidly changing and moving into 4K acquisition. While they obviously want Sony productions to use Sony cameras, they’ve let the shows themselves test in their studio to actually see the differences versus other cameras.

Essentially the goal is for the camera-making side of Sony to join forces with the movie and TV side right on the lot, and teach people how to use all of their newest cinema cameras.
